Busy Weekend

Friday Ryan and Leah had their spring concert. Their music teacher likes to do beat movements with a black light. Leah's class did a cowboy song and used boots. She is in the front with the red shirt.

Ryan's class did a great job singing patriotic songs including all three verses to the Star Spangled Banner.

On Saturday Ryan spend two hours handing out bags for Boy Scouts for their scouting for food campaign. Next weekend they go around and collect all the food.

He also had his martial arts graduation. He worked hard and has earned his blue belt.

Then he had his basket ball game. His team is pretty good and won by quite a bit. I like his coach because he plays all the kids evenly. They have one small kids on their team who wanted to make a basket so badly. They kept throwing the ball to him so that he could shoot - I think that he tried about 30 shots - but did not make one. It was nice to see the team work together though.

Upcoming Events!

I thought I would share here the upcoming events.

I ordered my cap and gown this week and will be graduating from UW Whitewater on May 15th with my MBA - Masters in Business Administration. WhoHoo!! The graduation is in the morning and at this time I am not really planning anything. I will just be happy to be done - although for the most part the classes have not been that difficult and most are pretty interesting.

On June 5th at 2:00 Leah is having her gymnastics event. I am not sure what to call it. It is at Midwest Twisters in Franklin. She has been working hard all year and improving on her skills. She is hoping to pass bars and move up to the next level. At the next level she will probably start to compete. They are sponsored by Harley so all their leos are orange and black and have something motorcycle related on them. At this event all the girls at the different levels show off their skills and then receive a medal. It is pretty fun to watch.

Those are the two planned events for us. There is always a ton more going on but I thought you might like to know about these.

Sweet children

I have been meaning to write this - this past weekend we were in the car and had about an hour drive. Leah had brought along some books to read. Ryan thought one of them looked good as well. They took turns reading the book to each other - it was so sweet to sit and listen to them reading the book and talking about the different pages. Probably one of my most enjoyable and memorable car rides.

Camping

This past weekend we went camping for scouts. It was a family camp so we all went. We had a large cabin with 20 bunks on each side and a kitchen and group area in the middle. We arrived Friday evening and they had to go sledding on the small hill behind our cabin. Saturday morning the boys made us breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns. They also did the dishes! Then we went to the big sled hill for some fun.

After sledding we went back for a lunch of chili and grilled cheese. Then everyone went outside to play. The girls build this snowman.

The boys were using brick makers to make a fort. Then it was inside for a dinner of homemade pizza and garlic bread.

After dinner we played a couple of games. Here we are doing a "fear factor" game with the parents against the boys. Ryan and I have smoked oysters to eat - good thing we like them! The parents ended up winning but it was a lot of fun. Then we all played board games and cards. Apples to Apples was a big hit with everyone. Sunday morning Leah was the first one up and woke me up fully dressed with her suitcase packed with her sleeping bag and pillow on it ready to go! We ate a quick breakfast, cleaned up the cabin and headed home. It was a lot of fun but I am happy that I do not have to go camping on a regular basis!

Updates

A couple of weekends ago we went ice skating for brownies. Here is Leah in the pink hat with her friend Hailey. She had a lot of fun along with the rest of the girls.

Friday she had her wax museum at school. She choose to be Mary Lou Retton and came up with her own costume. She had a short speech that she would recite if you pressed her "button" - red dot on her hand. They had to be in the museum for 3 hours. She did an awesome job and got an A on the assignment.

For school the 3rd graders put on a wax museum. Each student has to pick a person, write a book report on them and prepare a little speech. They then dress up as their person and people can come through and press their "button" to hear their speech. Leah wanted to be Mary Lou Retton. She came up with her own costume and speech. I thought she did an awesome job.
