Arctic Indian project for school

Ryan has spent the last couple of weeks working on his Arctic Indian project for school. Arctic Indians are basically eskimos. They visited the musuem to get some information and had to do research at school. He had to make a model of a home. He made his igloo open so that you could see the inside. They lined the inside with leathers and furs to keep it warm.

He also had to make a costume. We ended up sewing some "fur" onto a sweatshirt. He also made eskimo sunglasses. They had special glasses because the snow was so bright in the summer.

The last part was that they had to type up paragraphs about the eskimos and find photos and put it all together on a poster board.

Each of the kids were assigned a different indian tribe to do their project on. Ryan wanted the Arctic Indians and so he was happy to get them.

Ryan - MAA graduation

Ryan has been taking martial arts for a while now and really enjoys it. He just graduated to his green belt and was very excited about it. He also earned the Outstanding Sparring award. This is a big award as only one student in the entire school gets it at a graduation. It is not just his level, but all levels. I am very proud of him.

The Chocolate House

On Saturday we had a brownie outing to the Chocolate House - guess who set that one up :-)

The girls got to make a ton of chocolate candy. They started out with four snowflake suckers, then a big chocolate pizza, chocolate covered pretzels and s'mores!!

The people at the place were very friendly and just kept giving the girls more chocolate. Surprisingly, we still have a sucker, the pizza and a couple of pretzels left.

Space Derby

On Friday Ryan had the space derby for cub scouts. This was the first year that our pack had this event. I did not get a picture of Ryan racing his rocket but here he is with it.

Strawberry Cake anyone??

Yesterday Leah decided that she needed to make a cake. I asked her what she was going to do with it (we just threw out a bunch of cupcakes from the last time she baked). Her response was "Why do we need a reason to make something?" So she made a strawberry cake. She then made homemade frosting - herself! She knew how. She decided to put the frosting in the middle of the layers. She then pulled out a bag of strawberries we had picked this summer and mushed them up and put them on the top and then added some cool whip. A few raspberries for garnish and she was done. Now I have a big strawberry cake in the fridge and no one to eat it. But she had a lot of fun making it.
