Leah at Girl Scout Camp

Leah is at Girl Scout camp this week at Camp Alice Chester in East Troy. She had a lot of fun last year and was looking forward to going this year. Her camp theme is "What's the Scoop" or in Leah terms - ice-cream camp! Yummy!! Every day they make ice-cream or something ice-cream related. Her best friend Kayla is at camp with her. I love that they have a website that you can log in to and see photos that were taken each day. It helps me to see what she is doing as I am not able to talk to her. And...the best part is that she actually wrote me a letter this year!!

Last Day of School

Yesterday was the last day of school for Ryan and Leah. They had a small awards ceremony in the morning and then they had field days and a dance. The field days consists of races between the classes. The classes are all color coded. Leah's class was orange. Ryan's class had their grey class t-shirts. After school was out a group of us all went to Ferch's for ice-cream. Yummy!

5th grade picnic & sailboating

Yesterday Ryan had his 5th grade picnic at school. The kids got brats and hotdogs and even SODA! They had a beautiful day and were able to eat outside. Then they watched the 5th grade video - it was fun to see all the photos from the years, plus each kid had brought in 3 photos from when they were a baby and little. Their reactions to everyones baby pictures were great.

After lunch and the movie they did different activities outside - relay races, sudoku, long jump, etc. Then the different classes challenged each other to tug of war. Ryan's class got second. The best part was when the boys challenged the girls - they got their butts kicked! It was not even a contest.

After all that they received bags and a copy of the DVD that was shown. It was a fun day for the kids.

Last night Ryan went down to the Scout Sea Base to work on earning his small boat sailing merit badge. They were supposed to be in a classroom, but the guy who was in charge said it was too nice out and did not want to waste a beautiful evening inside so out on the boats they went. Ryan was excited about that and even was able to drive it. He has two more classes to go to to earn his badge.

Scouting the Zoo

This weekend was Scouting the Zoo. Boy Scout troops from all over camp overnight at the Milwaukee zoo. Yesterday was ok until around 5:00 when the rain started. It rained hard for 4-5 hours and so everyone was soaked. They cooked all their meals and did many of them in the dutch oven.

Finished product! It turned out well and was tasty. They also made chocolate cherry cobler in the dutch ovens for people walking by to taste. Leah had to help also and made an apple/cherry cobler. A lot of fun, but tiring weekend!

Gymnastics Show

Yesterday Leah had her gymnastics show. She loves her gymnastics and is constantly doing cartwheels and handstands and bouncing all over. The show is always fun to watch and see all the tricks that the girls can do.

At the end, they all received a medal and a Midwest Twisters bag.

Girl Scout Fly-up Ceremony

Thursday evening, Leah had her fly-up ceremony for Girl Scouts. She is bridging from Brownies to Juniors. It was a lot of fun being her troop leader this year. We had 20 girls in the troop which was a lot, but a great experience.
